Hood support bow allen screws

If anybody has any spares or is breaking a top I need a couple of the allen screws for the rear bow. I got the smog done on my car. Took the mechanic 5 weeks and my car went from a full tank of gas to 1/8. My wind breaker is broken, the rear bow is missing the special Allen screws, my intake air box is cracked and the adjuster for my drivers side seat was ripped out and bent. I just got back to look at my car after flying all over North America for work and now.... I'm really mad/depressed. My baby is hurting. Help?

I really don't know. I'm just worn down over dumb people doing dumb things. It's hard enough keeping a car nice. I don't need people destroying my work whom are supposed to be knowledgable and costing me more time and more money. I'm just tired of it. I've spent three years restoring my da's '55 Healey and at nearly every turn something has gone wrong unless I was there holding the hand of the few "specialists" I needed help from along the way. If I leave people to their own devices or trust them to do the r"right" thing,it will usually be off to way off the mark. My car is a prime example. A smog test that coat me a boatload of money for the test, then my Lotus comes back to me broken and battered. It's just not fair. I'm not an angry person and try to help others when I can. Picking up the pieces is just frustrating and depressing. What they did shows a serious lack of respect and knowledge of what they are doing.

I suppose they claim it was in that state when you dropped it off?
Annoyed & upset are understatements.

I take mine an hour away to be MOTd every year. Makes sense after I've been ripped off by a place which is only 10 minutes walk away.

Anyway. Cheer up! I have a spare hood and frame. You are welcome to have the screws.
I'll try to work out which screws you are looking for tomorrow when I dig it out of the shed.

Probably have the seat part too if yours is damaged beyond repair. (may cost more to post than it's worth).

Sorry I can't help with the air box but if you are in need of any other parts (excluding engine / gearbox parts)

Hi All,

Amazingly, I'm over the mad stage. I just can't stay that way. Drags on me. Now I'm just depressed. The shop said they had no knowledge of how or what happened including the gas usage. I'm just disheartened that people can be so twisted. My parents had been going to that shop for years. I've already made a new seat slider lever as my seats are custom. I found a spare air box in my parts pile. Wayne, ill take you up on the screws. They're the ones the hold the rearward bow to the frame near the mid seal and falling pillar seal junction. Let me know what I owe you please.

Been a rough seven days. Between almost being shot (thieves were breaking into cars on my street and I walked in on them. They chased me down the street on foot as I was calling the cops), my car issues, issues with the Healey I'm restoring, my mate from high school having a heart attack at 37.... You get the idea. I'm just worn out.

Sorry to hear you had problems. The bolts you need, are they the shouldered allen head that are at the window pivots?

If so, do you need the wavy washers and nuts too? Long or short?

I have some as does DBE which would be faster than Wayne - Sorry Wayne, I know you are heading off on holiday and I can help from the US.

I'm missing the countersunk ones that hold the rearward bow in place. At least, last I checked they were countersunk, don't quote me on that if someone knows different. There isn't a nut holding them on. PM me or if you still have my number, I think I still have yours.

No, not a chance of going to LOGs so far. The last two had my treatments fall on the same dates. The Glen is close to 700 miles anyway, so not justifiable just yet.

I have a spare top frame and will look to see if I can ID the screws you need. Any chance of a picture? The long allen screws don't get a nut or washer. They fall out a lot. Usually found inside the "B" Post /seatbelt cover.

Hi Marie - whilst i cant help with the parts, i have this picture which may help to identify which bits you need. If you can indicate which bolts you need, it may make it easier for John or Wayne to get the right bits to you......

Thanks Dave!! And John!!! The bolts I need are the ones on the bow to the right in the picture. The ones that hold the Last bow to the frame.

Marie: I am sure you see what you need right in front of us but I am pretty dense.

I looked at my top and ALL of the screws I think you are looking for are either short or long allen-head/shouldered screws (some with wavy washers and/or nuts).

It appears the spare top frame I thought arrived with the container probably did not make it. That is good for someone in the UK but not so much for the US.

I have a few new bolts, washers and nuts in my "spare stock" and can do a bit better price than those listed below, but for reference:

Long: A100B6220S $17.95
Short: A100B6222S $15.51
Nut: A100B6221S $4.02
Wavy Washer: A100B6285S $1.62

All are available from DBE or Lotus US (special order most likely) or Lotus UK.

Please look at this picture and tell me which ones you mean. I numbered them so there won't be many mistakes:

Once I am certain of which you need, I can tell you specifically which number they really are.

I left out a few only because I didn't think they were what you needed. If I was wrong, use the nearest numbers to identify them.

You need a pair of short shouldered, TAPERED screws with two flat washers and two wavy washers.

Bad news is Lotus never gave them a part number and DBE has none of the normal screws in stock anyway.

I can send you a couple of used screws and washers from the frame for the red car if that is OK with you.

I hope $25.00 for the used pair is OK? You should get them by Friday.

The price in the UK has gone up significantly and it would take a couple of weeks to get them anyway.

I found your address and phone number so I will post them out tomorrow.
