I Might actually Drive It!

It being the first of the month I have been thinking that I might tax my car so that I can drive it ... perhaps before the end of summer.
Battery on charge ✔
MoT Extended ✔
Ready to pay online ✔
But then I started to wonder if I'm actually allowed to go for a drive just for the hell of it? or does it need to be an essential journey? I know that if I were a member of the SNP a 600 mile journey to Skye would be ok. I know that if I were a government adviser a trip to Durham, plus a jaunt to check my eyesight would be ok. Welsh and Labour; I could drive to see my parents! I know that driving to see a married lover no matter how close is considered not ok... but I'm not sure if it is the driving or the married lover that is unacceptable?

I think that as a normal person following the rules and doing my civic duty it is essential journeys only. Please tell me if I'm wrong as twenty quid for two trips to Tesco hardly seems worth it.

I'd be more concerned about parking in Tesco's, standing in the que and then watching someone attempting to reverse park next to you with a car full of exited kids

I have taxed the Black Beastie from today. It's 22C and I'm having a blast over the twisty Berwickshire and Roxburghshire border roads of Jim Clark fame. The top will be down, as always, and I won't be stopping, save to admire the lovely views
