Halfords Parts

If somebody passes a Halfords could you please let me know as they are removing all brake fitting kits etc. Mine had them in last week for £5 called in today to get some and they have sent all stick back to HO.

I am desperatly trying to get all my brake bits ready for a overhaul before my MOT end of April.

May be worth people keeping a set of these aswell as im sure they will be needed in future...

Im after at the moment 2 (1 for each side) but if there are a few more ill pay for them as im sure either myself or others will need them at some point

just to gauge intrest, soes anybody else need any? i have already emailled Halfords head office, asking if i can get them direct. If they come back ill order more if people are wanting them.

Have you tried a Vauxhall dealer for this kit? The caliper is a GM part after all.
You never know, they may sell the 'proper' kit at a decent price.

My mechanic also commented that the O rings are not quite the right size in the Halfords kit. He recognised that I had used the Halfords kit from this fault.

which seals are the correct ones rip? dont suppose anyone knows the GM part numbers?

In fairness, some of the staff at my local Halfords give the impression that they'd have trouble distinguishing Shrove Tuesday from Sheffield Wednesday!

And the duty manageress, too. I suppose if I'd been looking for a Katie Price branded furry dice set then they'd have been able to produce an array of the things!

This would explain why i delt with the majority of customers when i was working there part time whilst at uni

There's another, larger Halfords a few miles from where I live. I'll drop by there at some point this weekend as I need to get some new number plates made up from my Elan. I'll be sure to find out if they have any kits.

There isn't a Halfords in the Island & this thread suggests Halfords aren't stocking the slider kits anymore anyway. Dapinky gave a link to an ebay item which is no longer available, but I've found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brake-Caliper-Slider-Kit-Vauxhall-Cavalier-Astra-/190685273634?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c65ba5e22. Can anyone confirm it's the right kit?

We do have a Vauxhall dealer here - anyone know the part number for their kit or the model/type/year (like Astra/GSi/1990) I could quote to get them to look it up?
