Coolant level getting down

Hi guys!

It's been a long time since I visited the forum - well, must say that my Elan was doing OK! I have a strange phenomena going on: the level of coolant in the tank is going down and down, although I don't see any obvious leakage. No coolant on the floor in my garage, no trace of coolant in the engine bay...

I have 2 ideas:

1- May be I need to drain and refill with a proper air bleeding?
2- Looks like the level is going down faster when turning on the heater: could I have a leakage at the heater matrix that would not be obvious from inside the car?

What amount of coolant are you loosing? Hate to suggest - but any evidence that you might have head gasket problem and loosing coolant in the engine?

Well it looks like the lost quantity depends on "heater ON or OFF", which is why I was thinking of a problem at the heater matrix.

I don't see anything special when checking oil (no strange color or mixture), thus I didn't think about the headgasket.

I need to have a loser look on each of the component on the cooling system, but my car is in my other hause for the moment...

Anyone who could confirm that the problem could come from air in the cooling system?

I find that hard to believe....
