Headlight motor?

Postby j700tus » Thu 30.08.2012, 17:26

Hope someone can help and direct me to the right place as my searches were not great....

My drivers side headlight on my S2 is not popping up properly, the motor appears to just spin at the top of the black bit on the motor.... It comes up about half an inch... Can new motors be bought?

Cheers

When mine went on my previous Elan I bought the plastic gears small and large from a guy in the united states because the same motors are on some American cars ,I have the guys name some where .
I have had a look and found his business card. The company name is Rodney Dickmans Automotive Accs, Email address

www.rodneydickman.com

The price was quite reasonable and he also sent instructions to install them .I did the job myself so it couldn't have been too difficult .you just have to remove the front wheels and the wheel arch liners to gain access to the securing bolts
I think there is something on here about how to remove and replace them some where

SJ sportscars has a rebuild kit available for £18.10 plus vat and p+p this kit is enough to do both headlamps.

New motors are now obsolete so at best you would ge a second hand unit but these are expensive.

If you are quite handy the rebuild is quite a simple job (i did it) Have a look in the wikilec above and this gives a comprehensive guide to rebuilding them.
