IIRC the box is behind the glove box
Drop the glove box and it should be to the right of the aperture.....

no second remote, only got the one with the car, put a new battery in the remote when i thought that was the intial problem ie would not set the alarm or unlock doors. but car still drove ok. just use the key central locking all worked fine. i have a seperate immobilizer that you touch by ignition barrel had like it in my old astra van that i use to have. so the alarm is in activated mode so reconnecting sounder has not helped fuel pump as hj2 mentioned, so alarm switched off with the barrel switch to stop sounder and horn going off !

well i got the car running inertia switch in wrong position i must of touched it when disconnecting battery

the alarm now, appears not to be the original one, as looking on ebay i spotted my fob on a 29.99 remotedoor/ alarm system i spoke to the seller and he said that the fob was unique to those systems, so some further investigating required

so if the sun comes out this weekend at least it is usable

thanks to all who replied
