Track day calamity

Postby 51mon » Thu 30.05.2013, 01:35

After many years away from this forum and only very occasional use of my M100, I pulled it out of the lockup last weekend checked it over and sorted some road tax. This was all in perpetration for a track day at Oulton on the 29th May - all went well and I emmediatly remembered why I had never sold the car. Despite a formidable field, the car performed well and my enthusiasm was on full stream despite a spectacular spin at Lodge, for those that know the circuit this is a fast corner - thankfully no harm done!
Anyway, enough of my ramblings - sadly after lunch the car had to be retired due to a gear cable problem. Not sure exactly what has gone wrong as the cables aren't broken but the for and aft movement is slack so gears cannot be engaged. The cables are the early type with the twist and lock end at the gearbox which I am not completely familiar with so it may be that this as popped out.
Seemingly the AB cables are no longer available and Mr BB has gone (I knew him many years ago and was the principal reason for my staying away from LEC).
Any advice would be very much appreciated - if anyone has an old cable so that I can see how it all works that would be great and I may be able to fix it up without firstly waiting for weeks for lotus parts and spending a small fortune (about £700 for s2 cables and revised bracket).
Finally, it's good to be back with the M100 and look forward to catching up with Dico, Monty and the NW crew.

Have a read of Speckys diagnosis and repair link viewtopic.php?f=48&t=18246 which should help. Also Archie has just made a bracket for his car to fix a problem
