This is an issue which will be addressed asap!
There are two opposing points of view - in the engine bay, any explosion or spark is close to the engine/fuel and therefore dangerous.
But where it is in the elan it could fly forward in an impact and smack the driver square in the head
Also, any sparks here from a loose rattle causing a short is a bit close to the fuel tank for my liking

Go to your local Vauxhall dealer - they sell their own range of `GO` batteries
(AC Delco), Gel technology, 3 yr warranty, maint. free, charge indicator, £30 over the counter. Better than anything Halfords sell for a third of the price. I bought two for the Elan and my MGF five years ago. I think it`s an 044.
