MEMCAL Upgrading

Postby Richmmm » Wed 15.06.2022, 16:06

Hope this is in the right section.......

I have removed my ECU and removed the MEMCAL plug-in PCB. After flipping off the blue plastic cover, you can see the EPROM, which I need to change over to 9930.
So I slid a small screwdriver under the EPROM and started to gently lift it. However, the metal connections it fits into seemed to move a bit more tha I was comfortable with so I stopped before i caused any damage. I wonder, are the EPROMs soldered onto the plugs? It looks so. Has anyone changed an EPROM, if so how did you go about it? I guess it would be useful to fit a socket.

(dont worry, I am an electronics engineer by trade - if all else fails i would just snip the old EPROM out and solder a replacement in. It doesn't look too difficult)
