Jumping inertia switch

[list=][/list] Hello, I just purchased a 1991 Elan turbo. I live in the states so it’s a us spec car left hand drive car. It does not run and does not have power to the fuel pump. It does start right up with starting fluid. I noticed that the fuel pump I retina switch is not present. Is there a way for me to jumper the connection to the inertia switch to get power to the pump to test it? Or apply 12v direct from the battery to the pump? If so, which wires need to be jumpered and or grounded? Forgive me if I write anything the wrong way. This is my very first Lotus!

Welcome to LEC. It is normal to make an introduction on the introduce yourself page, and a photo of your nice new car is almost practically required (!)

To help answer your question all the manuals are available in the manuals section when logged in. The electrical section MJ sheet 5 shows the inertia switch fed by a purple wire with a white/purple wire going to the pump via a relay. The ECU/ECM also has an input to the relay. Location of relays and fuses is also shown on P59 in the electrical manual.
Find those wires by where the inertia switch should be and bridge them.

Thanks for the replies. This is actually my first post. I will definitely check out the manuals section. I just picked the ole girl up today. I tried to post a picture from my phone but the file is too big. I ran 12v straight to the fuel pump and the pump runs. The car starts with ether and runs a bit but it doesn’t get fuel from the pump.. I need to tow it to my shop and jump in to figure out the fueling issue.
