Sounds familiar. I had a similar misfiring problem on my M100 last spring, and think that ignition pairs are 1&4, 2&3 . . . . Fuel injector pairs 1&3, 2&4. I am not a mechanic, but can learn a lot from the Internet, including this useful forum.
I have just at long last replaced the injectors. I found some in USA but they 'are not allowed' to ship them to UK. (I guess post-Brexit Trade Agreements, thanks Boris!!), but I managed to get them via friends of mine who live in USA.
I did wonder whether a dose of Redex might have helped, BUT I am not recommending this. And I didn't think of it till after the new injectors.
Good luck. Robert

Following an atrocious experience trying to get onto this site, reported elsewhere.
I can report success. I sent my injectors off to Turners Performance in Hemel Hempstead, one week later at a cost of £110 they were posted back, ultrasonically cleaned, tested and new O rings. I fitted them and the car runs a treat. I still need one connector clip and one injector clip. SJ don't do the connector clips and only sell the injector clips in 4s at £28.

I replaced my injector plugs last year, I'll have a dig in the spares pile to see if I kept the old clips.

Not that this picture adds too much, except to prove that I just did it too, and it helped me successfully troubleshoot what was going on.

There are instructions in the wiki.
If you are just swapping around the injectors, you don't even need to take off the fuel pressure regulator from the end of the fuel rail (so you don't need to faff with the torx screw bit).
I'd just make sure you take off all your hoses in the area, so you don't damage them on accident first as well.
And loosen up the pigtail harness bolts to give you a bit more play if needed when undoing the electrical connectors and twisting them up, out of the way.
In the photo you can see I used some scrap plastic drop cloth, and shop towels to help cradle/catch anything that might fall as well. If you really want to get after it while you are in there, you can remove the FPR from the end and then clean out your fuel rail with a big pipe cleaner, but you don't have to.
Be sure to put something down on the top of your valve cover (to protect it from scratches) if you are using a screwdriver to lever up on the fuel rail/injectors to get them free of the intake.
I had to replace one of my orings, because it got pinched and was leaking when I tried to reassemble, so just take your time and be prepared.
Hi how do you swap an injector without disconnecting the fuel pressure reg? How do you get the rail to lift if the Torx screw is still in place or am I misunderstanding something?
Thanks Mike
