just wanted to interject that this seems like a hefty price for what? do these plugs really have any advantage over the dirt cheap and good regular ones?? You should be able to get regular plugs for one-tenth that price you are quoting . . .

here's the pic from Costas and even he is still using stock plugs (I'd think he could get some advantage to changing to a colder plug, but that's another thread)

At £25 it's about double the cost of standard plugs.

I don't think the heat rating has changed, only the tip material (someone correct me if I've got that wrong).

If I understood ESMs previous posts they provide a more reliable spark, or in other words less prone to missfires.

As the Elan is my only available car I would rather pay the extra for peace of mind (missplaced or not) and reading up on the problems experienced by some which these plugs have cured then that's endorsement enough for me.

well I can get 4 BKR6E plugs for $6 just FYI, this is 7-8 times less than your £25

you can get them I am just butting in to be sure people aren't expecting much from the costly ones

I'll sell ya 4 BKR6Es for £20 if ya like . . . a deal . . .

Who went for the BKR6EIX spark plug that Alan was recomending and have u noticed any difference in performance etc? as i`m doing a full service and going to need a set of plugs.

The BKR6E are less than £12 for a set

Unless you are suffering misfire under boost I doubt you will see much improvement.

My hope is a more reliable spark will result in a better burn of fuel which should then result in (slightly) better fuel efficiency, but I won't be surprised if I see no tangible benefit.

Got the above sprakplugs today and have them fitted torqued to 27Nm, was quite supprised how small/fine the Iridium tip is compared to the standard BKR6E

Also believe these come pre gapped & that they don't recomend you try to alter it as it will break the tip !

well the 0.8mm feeler gauge was tight so i did squeeze it in to make sure the gap was right :roll:

but not all cars have the same gap ie N/A and turbo so in that case they will need re gapping

They put them in tester first to confirm they have the optimum spark...

Well I say tester... Its a box with a little window and a 45 degree mirror so you can see whats happening...

There's got to be one on the internet... I'll have a search..

Edit..Sort of like this, but they have a thermo couple in the "test spark plugs"

Your plugs should be gapped for the the higest compression and hottest temperature heat a plug can take... Pre set by the Manufacturer

I'm not gonna guess, but does the N/A use the same plugs... ours would have some thing like a a 6 in the part No.. there's might be a 7..

Just a guess on Numbers... so I'm not reponsible..

I`m getting the misfire on boost so am going to try a change of plugs first.

I have just purchased a set of BPR6EIX-11 , to try and cure a misfire under boost . They will not fit into the hole, and fit a socket on the plug, theBPR6EIX-11 are 20mm across the flat and the original 16mm Has anyone had this problem.

I think they should be BKR's not BPR's, I had no problems
