Injector problem? Rough running!

Postby CJ101KT » Mon 17.11.2008, 14:10

Was driving back from the NEC last night and after about 10 miles the car started running really rough as if a spark plug had come loose or something. Down shifting and when off the pedal was fine, car idles rough and when applying acceleration although the Turbo is opening up there is little response from the engine and made pulling off at junctions a pain.

I've had the leads and spark plugs checked this morning and they are all fine and the pressure on the cylinder in question is near around 150. I have someone coming out this afternoon to check the injectors on a tester but apart from these I am a bit stumped!

Is this a sensor problem although it is only affecting one cylinder? Has one of the two coil packs given up? Will I need a new injector?

Ideas and help will be much appreciated!

Big sigh of relief ... had someone come out today to look at the fuel injectors to see if there was an obvious problem. It was apparent that it was the 1st cylinder that was receiving a problem after checking the plugs, leads, pressure etc. In the end it was simply a dirty and sticky fuel injector causing the problem and with a clean and some attention from someone who knows what they're doing, the car is running better than before and feels nice and clean under acceleration.

I can put my wallet away now :-D
