coil packs again..!!

right here we go again.....replace coil packs a few years ago with standard lotus parts...today car running rough as you like..so sounded like missing on 1 cylinder
took off plug cover, and when i removed leads 2 & 3 make no diffeerence...pointing to 1 coil plug breaking down...havent swapped the coil packs over yet...due to rain, rain and more rain..
my question is is there a wire or connector that fires coil pack for 2 & 3 that could be tested to save me removing the coil packs to swap over..as there was no indication it would fail...was running perfect until i restarted then running rough..normally breaks down over time???
second point..does anyone have a spare coil pack they would consider selling / me borrowing until i source one at a reasonable cost..rather than put money in a robbing lotus dealers wallet..??...as the cars almost undrivable only running on 2 cylinders..

But FWIW on Tony's (Saska) advice I bought some new coil packs from HERE for about £35. It was part of several attempts to cure some odd behaviour on my car (tacho intermittently reading 1000 or so too high; and seeing some retard events with no associated knocks in Elanscan). Anyway, new coils packs fitted and working well but it didn't make any difference to the symptoms, so likely as not theres nothing wrong with my original coil packs. If you want to borrow one or both of my old ones drop me a PM with your address. But at just £35 for a new one, may be worth getting a spare?? Cheers...

I sort of have a 'spare' pair of OE coil packs from when i fitted the MSD ones to my cars.....

...... as I say, I only 'sort of' have them.....

... I lent them to a member on here to see if it cured his problem (it did), so he bought new ones and then sold his car - i never actually got them back as I haven't seen him since

He offered to post them back to me, but I never got round to getting them. As far as I know they are still in the Wiltshire area, and if you want to borrow them to see if it cures your problem, you're welcome to them.

Feel free to contact kenich and I'm sure he'll send them to you (he hasn't been on the forum since last November, but a PM will give him an e-mail notification of the message).

thanks for your kind offers to borrow coils..but have now picked up 1 coil pack from ignition car parts in basildon just up the road from me £35 inc VAT thanks for that link MPx..fitted the pack after loosening header tank and removing inlet air pipe..10 mins later with new coil fitted car runs like a dream again..now to just run elan scan and check results..thanks again..
