what battery would you recommend?

I have had Halfords batteries for ages now and they are crap! The only reason I keep getting them is they fail before the guarantee is up. The last one lasted 18 months, still under gaurantee and now exchanged for a new one with a new 4 year guarantee.

With all the hassle of changing the battery I think its time to tear up my guarantee and get a battery that will last. So your suggestions please.

I spent a while looking into this and came to the conclusion that an absorbent glass matting (AGM) battery was best as they withstand repeated discharge cycles better than other types, perfect for a car that's used infrequently. I got a Varta one, but there are others. The only downside is that they're more expensive than the usual types.

My last Halfords battery (Ca technology, 4 year guarantee) lasted 9 years Chris. I was so impressed that I bought a new Halfords one

Forgot to mention that my original shiny calcium, 4 year guarantee one failed after 6 months and it was repleced with an identical one that lasted 9 years. Perhaps I got the Friday batch 1st time around

I bought an Optima battery as well and use a Battery Tender to keep it from becoming an expensive anchor

i got my last one from ebay it was a lucas battery with a lifetime warranty about the same price as a halfords battery but thought the warranty was a good offer, not that ive ever tested the warranty. but i allowed it to run flat by accident, a couple times and its charged back up and is working well.

Just been searching for a new battery and may have decided on a Varta D15 Silver 027 63ah 610cca @ £55.00.
Anyone got one of these or had any experience with Varta.

Well, I decided to go for a different one altogether.
It's a Yuasa 075 60ah and 620cca.
The dimensions are the same apart from it being 20mm shorter in height and it has a few more cold cranking amps.
At £55 it seems good value as well.
