Looking at your photos on photobucket, I notice that on the photo of the lhs engine bay, it appears an inlet hose is missing. Goes from the pipe sticking out of the wheel arch (which comes from the intercooler) to the plenum at the back of the engine.

Have you removed it to get at the electrics to solve the miss-fire? Or is it just missing? Apologies if the former, if the latter it won't help as any turbo boost is just going to the atmosphere and the engine is working with dirty unfiltered air as a N/A. Well it would be if you had a spark................. :( Or maybe that's part of your problem.

Just a thought: do you have an engine immobiliser fitted which is not "mobilising"? This would obviously prevent any firing at all. It could either be independent, or incorporated into an alarm system.

Factory alarms were standard on S2's, but optional I think on the SE's. Many people fitted non factory alarms as well: mine had an non OEM immobiliser and an alarm. I had both removed and replaced by a single Scorpion alarm/immobiliser.

I would definitely bridge the alarm system, as ignition is also routed through it.

With that kind of description (its just wires every were under the dash and behind the stereo), I would say you need the FACTORY Electrical Manual. Click on Manuals at the top and request access to the cache of manuals. It is a complex system, so if you don't really feel comfortable with this or the process doesn't seem clear to you, you should consult a qualified automotive electrician or specialist. You can do more harm than good if you just guess at solutions.

As this is in the New Members - Introductions section, the intros are complete but the problem solving is progressing elsewhere, for the sake of sanity I'm going to lock this thread.

I wonder if I hold the record for being the last person to post before a thread is locked? :?

I may well have been shutting the gate after the horse had bolted to an extent Ray, but at the last count I was up to 5 threads mentioning this same problem, and it was doing me 'ead in! So I was trying to save people (including your good self) from wasting their time suggesting solutions that had already been posted elsewhere.

If you were getting code 12 then the ECU is fine, and putting a new one in won't solve anything. Alarm/Immobiliser fault is far more likely to be the problem - sounds like you need a Toad installer/specialist to look at it.
