Hi

How do you remove the injectors??? and is there a UK part available ???

The injectors can be ordered from ANY Lotus Dealer and places like SJ Sportscars BUT at a high price: £261.02

SJ Sportscars has them listed for £151.12

I don't know of any reasonable priced injectors in the UK but...

I'm fairly sure JohnW has installed Delphi injectors and had no problems

Just be careful which injectors you buy... I bought some delphi ones from Ebay that stated for the M100 but it ran rough on idle, swapped back and it ran smooth. I’ll probably just send mine for cleaning at some point.

I fitted Intermotor FJ559s in mine. One of my originals had failed so I needed a solution & replaced all 4.
The engine does not run as smoothly as with the originals, but only at certain revs. I can't remember exactly where because it has not moved since January.
It runs better than Nick's one did with alternative injectors (I am not going just from description, we have experienced each other's Elan from the passenger seat).

I installed the eBay delphi injectors in the second M100 (I bought for parts and patterns) as well as replacing the oil pan (sump) thanks to the salvage company running their fork forks lift thru the pan.

I didn't do a lot of testing, but it drove fine and idled as expected when I was done. I also replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator, spark plugs and wires and am pleased that I have a good condition spare engine and gearbox.

When I got my first M100, It ran horribly and it pointed to the injectors having been laid up in storage for over 10 years and because FJ599s were really expensive at Rock Auto, I sent my originals (20k miles) to RC Injectors to be cleaned and they have been fine as well.

Whilst on the subject, I use some injector cleaner fairly regularly and have never had any injector problems. It might be worth you adding some to your tank every now and again once you have had your old injectors inspected and cleaned (which would be my first approach rather than purchasing new ones)

As a matter of interest, Mark, what’s your cleaner of choice?

Hi Jonathan - I tend to go with Wynn's, STP or whatever is on offer/best price at the time in Halfords. If I'm in my usual motor factors I think their product is called Comma petrol magic

I also tend to use high octane fuel whenever I can - usually Shell or the Tesco 99 RON product

As I mentioned, I've never had any injector problems with any of my vehicles over the years

I don’t have a Shell station local to me, but I can get Momentum 99 from Tesco in Tetbury, so that’s my fuel of choice. Sounds a good idea to get one of the cleaners and run it through though - as far as I know it’s never been done.
