Cobra Alarm Wiring Problem - no fuel injection

Postby ludo » Wed 28.01.2026, 16:45

Hello,

Please excuse my English; I am French and i am writing to you using Google Translate.

I have a 1990 Elan SE. When I bought the car, it was equipped with a Cobra alarm, which was deactivated.

Some time ago, I had to take the car to a garage after my house flooded, for a complete check-up and to get it running again. The mechanic removed the Cobra alarm but couldn't finish the job because he went out of business.

Another garage took the car to finish the job, but unfortunately, the car won't start: there is no power to the injectors, and the fuel pump isn't delivering fuel after the ignition is switched on (it works fine when connected directly). However, I do have spark.

This problem is due to the alarm being disconnected without the wires being reconnected as they were originally.

Does anyone know the wiring diagram for a Cobra alarm, or how to reconnect the wires without the alarm?

Thanks
ludo

if your alarm was deactivated. i woudl suggest a complete removal and putting the wiring back to stock, follwoing the wiring diagrams available in the manuals tab.

i know its a pain to do (from personal experience) but it saves time and money in the long run.

Thanks for your reply.

The first garage removed the Cobra alarm by cutting the wires flush, and now we have a bunch of wires hanging loose. We don't know how to reconnect them to get back to the original setup.

Any ideas?

unfortunately the only advice i can give is vague. because every instalation is different

follow the wires untill you find the original car's wires. they will be color coded as per manual description. when you find them theres a very good chanse you will see nearby the old original wire also connected to the alarm . plug them back, the colors will match. if they dont. continue searching,

use the electrical manual wiring diagrams as a guide. it will tell you what color combinations to look for.
