Code 42

Postby fletcher » Mon 25.07.2005, 19:27

Hello all, please help

My engine light has just come on permenantly and with the trusty paperclip test its reading a code 42, 'Electrical Spark Timing Circuit'. PLease someone tell me what this is, can i fix it, and more importantly am i able to drive the car with the problem. Is it major and expensive, or just a simple fix.

If anyone can help or lead me to a link that would be much appreciated.

Thanks loads :D

How's it running? I've seen this one set when an HT lead came adrift, the car was missing really badly as a result.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to sit on your arse with a blank look on your face.

Click on my WWW link for information on chips and ElanScan.

I havent really opened her up as a result, but she does feel, ....'different'. Because im not sure of the severity of the problem i worried about going over 2-3 rpm.
