hi guys, after installin my everest chip last week and a lot of trial runs as it wasntboosting correctl. it seems 2 be boostin right now although i dont get full boost till quite late? i think it may be running rich? it seems to have a sooted up exhaust and does seem 2 drink fuel? how ca i be sure and what is the cure?
thnks 4 any help!

Take out plugs and look at the colour. If black running rich.
You need to adjust Co-Potentiometer and have exhaust gas reading done at MOT Garage. if you have a mate in the trade get him to stick
reader in the exhaust pipe after warming up the engine to normal running temp. Reading should be about 3.45. Fans should (kick in) reading will go down as you adjust but engine temp will rise on tick over
Wait till fans stop before adjusting again. You may need to adjust tickover idle speed at the throttle body to about 950 rpm

Apparently the mixture control goes into 'open loop' mode (full rich?) when boosting, now you have the chip fitted you'll be hitting boost more often and therefore running rich more often too? My fuel consumption took a bit of a dive after fitting a chip even though I thought I was driving 'normally' but the fact is that my usual throttle inputs now corresponded to higher boost levels courtesy of the chips control of the Boost Solenoid Valve?
ESM can explain this better

and...he can update us on how he's overcoming the 'open-loop' over fueling

You will use more fuel driving around on boost as you're delivering a greater volume of mixture on each stroke. The rich running on high boost is known issue and is a safety feature to minimise the chance of detonation if running to lean. As Brian has said ESM has plans to optimise fuelling and ignition maps in the chip to resolve this, but give him a chance

, he has a life to live! The 'late' delivery of boost may be the far more progressive characteristic of the chip than an MBC which is very much an 'everything now' solution. I agree with suggestions such as check your timing and also suggest that you check your throttle cable for slackness to ensure full depression of the accelerator actually gives you a wide open throttle. The ECU (Chip) gives boost in proportion to throttle opening (you don't want full boost at light throttle in traffic) it relys on the signal voltage from the TPS to see what you are doing with the throttle. If the throttle cable is slack you may never get a genuine wide open throttle so the ECU may never see a need to deliver full boost. If you can hook up Elanscan the data will tell you many of these things.
