do you mean the grill/direction bit????
if yes then its just a pull out......could be quite tight as its a snap in fixing :-D

mine is bolted to a plate inside the dash with no way of removing the vent.
unless the outside of said vent pulls off and the inside stays ?

that doesnt sound right......should be the inside comes out leaving the hose with the dash mount still in place.....

Mine are like that to...

I couldn't get the louvre out as to access the screws... :(

Did think of using a dremel and cutting a slot in the bottom of the bolt and screwing them in..

I know lotus always made things hard to remove, but they did put it together so I always say it must come apart

Anyway all you do is pull out the louvers from the housing as advised earlier you may need to spread the housing to get the louver to pop out of its pivot holes (flat screwdriver). You can then undo the screws which hold the vent into the dash. This then just slides out of the dash. On refitting the housing ensure it fits back onto the main distribution manifold foam seal.

As for getting to the CEL you may find it easier to remove drivers seat and laying on back in footwell you have a perfect view of it. Not sure if the vent will give you sufficient access. The CEL unplugs so best to get it out and go from their.

Just check you actually have a CEL as some replacement alarms directly operate the door locks and the CEL is already gone. Quick check is by manually pushing the lock button down on one door the other door should follow, same with button up.
