Momo or Sparco steering wheel hub

Postby johnghini » Fri 28.03.2008, 05:42

Hi all,

So, I've purchased a nice Momo wheel and I've read here that the hub I need is the Momo part #4603 which fits the Isuzu Impulse. However, the Momo rep has said this part doesn't exist. Maybe it's no longer made? Does anyone have one for sale or know where one exists? I'm located in So. CA and I've tried every racing supply store as well as Ebay and Momo itself. Is there a Sparco item that can substitue? HELP!

Thx,
John

You just unbolt the boss from the back of your existing wheel and it fits straight onto a wheel designed for an Elise.

But, there are often some nice wheels at Donington and you could drive a bargain with cash.

As the original wheel is a Nardi, the bolt holes in the boss are at a different position to the Momo wheel!
I fitted a Momo wheel, and bought an adapter off ebay a year ago, from www.classicsteeringwheels.co.uk
This may be your easiest solution.

steering wheel

Postby discovery » Fri 28.03.2008, 16:09

I agree with Ghost , I did the same a couple of months ago . I used Classicsteeringwheels for the adapter , cost approx £15 plus £3 postage .
Very easy to fit .
p.s. new Momo wheel 320 mm dia , original lotus wheel 350 mm dia( i think) . Much heavier steering at parking and low speeds but ok after about 20 mph .

Let's not forget the difference between the Fed and UK steering wheel though (where's johnghini from?). I will be looking to replace the Fed airbag wheel this spring with an airbag Elise wheel which is a Momo based wheel so I'll be needing this Isuzu adaptor that's not made anymore.....or something else.

Hi,

I'm from the States so yes, it's a Fed car. Any ideas now? Regarding the Isuzu Imulse / Geo Storm adaptor...it is correct that it is no longer made. I've spoken with the Momo rep several times and he didn't even know this part existed. Someone else has done this conversion...what was the solution?? Thx, John

Your only answer may be to have a custom boss built or somehow salvage the existing one and bolt it on to the new wheel. I'm struggling with this too right now but haven't yet addressed it head on as other projects are being done right now.

Sparco Momo steering boss

Postby johnghini » Sun 06.04.2008, 19:48

After a long search for a boss to fit my new Momo wheel. The Momo rep said he would make a small run of them if necessary. The rep would like to know the diameter of the steering column shaft and the number of splines it has. Anyone have this info? Thx.

News update on the MOMO hub. your right. MOMO used to make an adapter but no longer available. Hasn't been for a few years. I managed to take the stock wheel's boss and weld it to the Elise S1 steering wheel boss. Airbag will be a minor issue. You will need to disconnect the airbag computer or fuse to disengage the unit and light.

As I understand it, the momo hub was actually the one for the Isuzu Impulse. As LGM said, they haven't made it for some time. I recently found this one on ebay. It's not the one made by Momo, but it is for Momo and Nardi wheels, and for the Impulse. The one I linked is sold (to Elanlover), but the seller has at least one more listed. He probably has a supply and only lists one at a time.

Elanlover said he will post if the hub works. If not on this thread, then on this one.

Not for Fed cars. We don't use the Nardi wheel boss. Its a GM airbag wheel.

I think that one is the wrong way round - you need a Momo wheel to Nardi boss adaptor. Think I kept a link for the one I have - will check when I get home. Here it is http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/classicsteeringwheels/
You will also need a Momo bellows, unless you like the look of a naked Nardi boss
