Custom Door Sill Plates

Postby Elanlover » Tue 08.04.2008, 15:26

I'm having some custom door sill plates made, specific to the Elan. The folks who did an excellent job on the perfect fitting pedals are doing it. You can see there door sill work here.

Now, these aren't cheap (they will be the same price as the 308 sills in the above link) but:

- they will be a perfect fit covering the entire length of the flat portion of the sill
- they will be of durable, thick (and real) aluminum
- great options for domes and finishes are available
- they'll last about as along as the car will (or longer)

Now, they do add logos so you can have "LOTUS" or the Lotus logo engraved into the sill or...........you could have another, very interesting option added which I just noticed. Apparetly, they can do "custom pocketing" as you'll see at the top of that linked page. Soooooo.............I was just wondering what the nose badge would look like inserted into a pocket in the middle of the sill...........

Anyway, they are now designed and available for order if anyone wants them.

Should have the sills in a 2-3 weeks. They will be done with the custom pocketing option and I picked up a couple of Lotus nose badges to insert in the centre of the sill. Should look fantastic.

Also, and I'm willing to bet there will be some interest in this for Fed owners, he will be doing a driver's side footrest. Apparently, I'm not the first Elanner to stumble across these folks. Seems someone who owns a yellow Elan and lives in Florida (a short drive from their offices) is taking their car in to have a footrest measured

First, who are you and, second, thanks for saving me the trouble of measuring it up myself! :-D

Ok, the backlog of projects is slowly starting to clear and installing these was one of them. I had a company polish them for me. The pics don't do it justice. This looks really good.
