Bought a brand new dash and steering wheel. Installed both successfully, looks, fits and works great. Now what to do with the dash and wheel I pulled... I guess just toss them out if there are no ideas. Feels really nice to have the never used new dash and steering wheel, newly reupholstered seats, feels neat to be surrounded with stuff I am the first to use and enjoy.

The steering wheel looks better because on most all the federal elans i have seen the airbag sits too deep on the the bottom portion of the wheel making the airbag look sunken. Just 3 little metal washers on each bottom side screw when reinstalling the airbag levels the airbag to the steering wheel spokes. The center top portion of the airbag poking out behind the airbag can also be fixed, it seems the plastic/rubber piece shrinks and doesn't allow for the steering wheel plastic to lay flat the shrinkage also causes the horn flaps to curl outward and expose parts of the airbag inside. It nice to see it's repairable. It would take cutting the interior plastic and refitting it with space for the steering wheel plastic fit down over it . I also learned a little something about élan dashes. The one in my car had metal bars attached under that supported the dash and shape. The new one I installed had the bars molded into the the dash itself. When I layed them side by side I was thinking I was going have to remove the metal bars from my old dash and attach them to the new one, I guess as the design progressed it changed. They need to be disposed of, and a landfill is where they will have to go. Any suggestions?!?!
