Access cover will not come off

Postby Houdini » Sat 18.02.2006, 19:49

Need to access the back of the gauges and the dash access cover won't come off. I've turned the 2 screws every way possible with no success. What am I doing wrong? :? I've even slid a small screw driver under hoping to feel when it's loose but nothing is working. After one hour I come to you for help.

Fixed! Some boozo replaced the machine screws with sheet metal screws and it made it almost impossible to remove. Got it out replaced the volt and oil pressure gauges and waiting on the new boost gauge coming Monday.

Have you ever had it off? Can you move the cover at all? It may be that the anchors for the screws gave way so the cover may already be free.

Just a thought

Doc,

It's off now. I never had it off but someone did and they replaced the machine screws with sheet metal screws. How they got them in beats me but it sure gave me fits getting them out. I've since replaced the nut clips and have proper screws to go back in. Cover is still off until the boost gauge is installed.
