Leather restoration

Postby ektrolleyboy » Tue 26.08.2008, 20:56

Has anyone ever had their leather re-connilised? The process where the leather is cleaned/filled and re-sprayed whilst in it's existing place.
Pictures and on-line research seem very good, but does anyone have first hand experience and or a mobile contact for such a service?

Hemming's magazine used this in an article in this month's issue. Although you can use the product insitu, they removed the seat and did it on a workbench, as it's far better for your back that way!

DIY :!:

I did it on 28 year old Elite seats. It's not difficult, the instructions are good and there are videos on You Tube. Woolies supply the necessary. It is easier to do a good job if you remove the seats, but it really just requires patience.

I used Gliptone dye and did it myself - results were good on my half leather seats

It's funny you mentioned this.

I'm getting my seats proffesionally done at the end of the month (if all goes to plan).
My uncle's in the car trade and has a contact, so I'm going to give this guy the work and hopefully see if he can paint my plastic sill guards too. My leather and guards are pretty clean as they are, but they can be improved and so they will be...

I'll post results on the work once it's done and the guys contact details too if the work is worthy.

(I know Paul Matty offer this service and I've seen the finished work, but you have to wait until the guy is in the area and no doubt they'll charge a significant premium)

No. Not them...

They do dye kits but not proper re-connilising! I had my piping done there...

It would be taking away from their own business to re-connilise peoples interior trim. Their main work is new leather trim and repair.
