I know it sounds a bit 'Red Dwarf'. But the driver's seat adjustment wheel no longer reclines the seat, it just spins freely, and the seat is locked in an upright position.
This is awkward for a tall chap like me, any ideas how to fix it?

Sounds like the plastic has rounded off, which it did on mine and I replaced it.

You prise off the center button and undo one screw to get it off and all should be revealed, according to the parts manul the early type can be replaced with the later one if it is still available??

I had the same problem. If you have the early version, that metal washer (#6) develops a fatigue crack in the corner and splits open, then it doesn't grab the flats on the shaft, allowing the whole thing to spin. Terrible design. I was able to buy a couple replacement washers from the local dealer.

On mine the plastic wheel (No5) disintegrated on the inside where the washer is located... copious amounts of stiff glue put it back together and it works perfectly, but I am a little more careful with it...
... But I wouldn't want to use it in an 'emergency seat recline situation'

Is this a GM mechanism? Feels very much like my old Mk3 Cavalier.
& mine has been broken for over a year, but it's stuck in my driving position so I'm not too fussed about it.
