Tony,
This was first talked about many years ago, somewhere on the forum.
I think that it was considered that it would be "okay" but the dimensions need checking. I seem to remember something about it being wider in the body (or narrower!) - either way, the number of shims to adjust the caster were different.
I don't know if the taper is the same to fit in the upright/hub, or if it allows the whole geometry to remain the same (the same taper could still sit either higher or lower in the hub).
Another consideration is the size of the holes - Triumph balljoints will use Imperial size holes for the bolts, not metric - so something may need to be drilled to fit it securely.....
.... overall, I have no personal experience, because I decided to just pay the money and buy the "proper" items and avoid the doubt.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
