Surrey Welding and Stainless Rear Wishbones

Postby jello » Mon 21.05.2007, 04:02

The upgrade page is very nice with the article on upgrading to stainless wishbones from Surrey Welding (for the rear suspension). I'd like to do this upgrade, but the weblink is down.

Does anyone know if Surrey Welding is still in business, and how to contact them????

Still in business? = I fear not (or, they might be in business but not doing the WBs anymore...)

Phil,

I leapt on these wishbones about 5 or 6 years ago. They were then, and still are fantastic. The problem was that they were flogging them for about £330 IIRC, which, considering the work that had gone into them, made them uneconomical to produce and they stopped. Bummer huh? I wanted front ones as well!

S/Steel Wish Bone Replacement

Postby lotuselan4455 » Tue 29.05.2007, 18:35

If I can get hold of a second hand set of rear wish bones or better still drawings, I've a Tool Room Company who can make these, possibly beat the price also..

go for it and tell us what the projected cost will be -- then gauge interest and see if it is worth making them

they certainly are an item that is needed for the model

People seem to be getting the South West Lotus galvanised rear 'bones for about £230 IIRC so that'd be hard to beat. How about going for front ones?

EACH Rear lower wishbone needs:

Qty: 2 - E100C6002F Inner Bush (everyone is using B100D6002F)
Qty: 2 (or 4 if none of the above) - B100D6019F Inner Bush @ 10.03 each
Qty: 2 D100D6002F Outer Bush @ $30.01

Prices are from SJ price list, last month

TWO Wishbones would be 200.28 plus postage PLUS Installation Labour

and VAT at 20% if youre in the UK

I had them made.....but needed to order them in bulk to get the discount.....

jimbob got the original spec lotus rubber type and IIRC they came in at about £240 for the complete rear end...
the bulk order got the poly bushes in for £150 for enough to do the rear end.....

So guys please simplify.
What will I have to pay for a pair of wishbones, complete with bushes and anything necessary, including UK VAT --and
where can I get them?
Sources I have seen mentioned seem to have dried up.

If you are looking for a set of stainless, then look here: Stainless Wishbones incl bushes

If you are looking for regular Steel, Try SJ Sportscars. They have the links with bushes for 396.55gbp each side. SJ Sportscars Limited

In my price book, they are on page 32, under links and wishbones.

I believe they are the newer S2 design but they will fit all models.
