Postby Robert.Gow » Mon 12.06.2006, 11:11

Hello again every body and thank you for your help on the (Low rumbling problem) the new bearing is in place and the car is now working fine. Now that I have the car mechanically sound and running well I feel that I would like to add some more BHP so I am open to subjections I would like to get to about 200-210 BHP and I would like to do the work myself. I would like to than you for your surjection in advance.

Be safe all

Brake upgrade first (HiSpec, Willwood or AP), then K&N Air Filter, 2.25 or 2.5" exhaust and Everest Chip.

I do not have the willwoods but have fitted EBC dimpled and grooved disks and greenstuffs pads and at the moment I am happy with the bricking. Do you think the willwoods are a necessity when adding an extra 40ish BHP?

If you're happy with the efficiency of your braking system, it's not for me to tell you that they're a necessity.
Some Elans have awful stock brakes (due to neglect etc) - it sounds like yours are OK.

:agree:
My personal order of effectiveness would be:
verify exhaust & catalysts are not clagged up (or remove cats)
set static timing to correct 16 deg BTDC,
Brake upgrade (Willwood),
Everest Chip
2.25" exhaust
+- K&N Air Filter

I agree with both sy and john but did my exhaust before the chip and havent fitted a K&N filter yet!!!!!.......but making sure you stop before you go a whole lot faster is a definate must in my eyes.......there no point realising your brakes actually werent that good and could have done with being upgraded half a second before you hit something or fall off the road!!.......enjoy the speed just make sure you can stop it if needs be!!!!

Well when I got the Elan one month ago I was quite alarmed at just how much it did not stop I have EBC and Green on my race car and was imprested with them on the AGM-WLR and after fitting them on the Elan I can now make the front brakes lock up not that that is a good thing but it dos point to them working with some efficiency.

Be Safe

can some drop the lint as to where i can get the Everest chip.
