http://www.classicfenders.com/m12orange.htm<br>You are looking at one of the rarest cars in the world, with only 16 made in the 4 years it was in production.  This was the final Vector model made in the long saga of the company, and it was done in the Reynold's office park 20-miles south of my house.  Production finally stopped in 1999 when Lamborghini shut off their supply of V-12 engines.  Too much competition, I suppose.  Each car was made to order; with fabrics & materials of the owner's choosing.  They did not choose from a list on a sheet of paper.  The words from the mouth of the owner were simply obeyed.  One had the dash, buttons, shifter, etc, made out of elephant tusks!  This car was built for a former UF all-star, can't you tell by the colors?  They tried to re-engineer the car to use a twin-turbo aluminium Chevy big-block, but the backers pulled the plug & only 1 non-finished "mule" of that survives.  I have actually seen 2 of these cars when they were "in-production", if you can use that word for a completely hand-built car.  Every car had to have the 'kinks' worked out which could take 3-weeks, so I would see the cars out on test drives.  If you follow the link above you will see these are the bolts they replaced when they restored the car!<br><br><br>

I look forward to seeing one of your kits fitted, especially Grahame's as there are "before" images to compare back to in his case.<br><br>In a month or two I will make up one more kit for Matt Schulde in the US as I promised if I did these again he would be the first recipient.  I do not like having a sense of obligation hanging over me & was warned again today by some dude with a medical degree about my high blood-pressure.  In any case just because it makes sense I will do 2 or *possibly* 3 more in addition to Matt's.  These I will not hock on LEC but instead put on EBAY in the hope that I might actually be paid at least 3rd-world slave-labour wages for my effort.  If you see them please do not say to others "I would appreciate you leaving this one to me"; as sometimes happens.<br><br>I am sending Grahame a few extra fasteners as he is out some money for inadverently sending me Sy's HAL-sensor dosh.  I *may* also offer these as bolt-package, part #2 to the original purchasers if there is demand.  I can always ship more cheaply overseas but was trying to make the Donny deadline this time.<br><br>Anyway, just wanted to update you on my "going out of business" plan!

Yep I got all mine in today too.  Except the water pump one which sheered while I was looking at it.  ;)<br><br>The outboard bonnet props don't have captive nuts either so prepare for a wheel off and arm behind the wheel arch liner job.

Sorry about that Sy I will get you another water-pump bolt gratis.  The aluminium bolts, especially in sizes M6 & smaller (the one you speak of is an M5), just don't have the tensile strength as stainless or steel (steel, you know, the one which will rust like a somebitch!).  I have never replaced the OE bonnet stops so did not know about the lack of a weld-nut on the back-side.  I have only adjusted them for height.  <br><br>I noticed yesterday that my screws on the front turn-signal covers have started to rust and picked up some #8 x 1" stainless screws to replace them with.  You have the clear-covers on your car so I'd imagine these would have even more of a positive impact.  The parts manual lists these as M4 x 25 bolts, but that is just a Lotus lie!  I can even get you some polished ones in my next order if you'd like.

The outboard bonnet props are a right bitch and I found that using the slightly longer bolts in the front position gives more thread grip, with the shorter ones in front I was only just getting a grip

Grahame that is awesome!!!!!!  It really makes all those hours I spent planning, ordering, sorting, labelling, shipping, billing (I hated that the most) seem worthwhile.  Nothing anyone can say could take the place of those pictures.<br><br>It looks a million times better than the old pictures you posted here http://www.lotuselancentral.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=upgrades;action=display;num=1081810058;start=45.  I have noted your comment on the bonnet-stop lengths.  I went with what they had in the Lotus parts catalog which is what I do in the few instances when I have not removed the bolts myself.  I have found the Lotus specs to be wrong on a number of occasions.  In fact I ordered Doug some longer 80mm bolts for the fronts as I had a hunch they might not be the right length (70mm was specified & what you installed).  ... learning as we go here.  Wait until you see pictures of what I am now doing to my car!

Matt, are you sure those are the right measurement? Do bolts come in "#8"? I though only screws did.
