£200 for 4 injectors seems good to me.

I know I paid more for my GTiR 550cc ones.

I fitted Walbro upgraded fuel pump as well.

Hi Nick

I've not heard the phrase "Low impendance" used before.
All I do know for sure is that they are
RC Engineering PL8 550cc PEAK AND HOLD with Bosch style tops.

Are these the type you have quoted for?

Regards, Paul

For low impedance read Peak & Hold or PL series for use with old ECUs like ours.
For high impedance read Saturated or SL series.

Having had a think about it i'm really not all that comfortable in sending hundreds of pounds of other peoples money to an unknown international ebayer. Does anyone else with more confidence/experience care to step forward?
Or an any other suggestions?

You could always send hundreds of pounds of your money and we'll pay you if the injectors turn up? :poke: :-D

Will he accept a UK credit card? That way your purchase will be guaranteed (check that your card provider will guarantee overseas payments first though!).

Other than that, do we have a local that can broker for us?

Dico,

Sorry I'm slow on the uptake here and notwithstanding concerns about sending large amounts of money to unknown international e bayers I'll be in for a group buy just as soon as I can be sure that I'll have a car to fit the upgrade to. Until such time as I am certain that I will have the S2 back on the road (and track) the pile of add ons has to be limited. I'll keep an eye on how this is going in the hope that I know what I will be able to do sooner rather than later (car went to the repairers on Friday).

I'm not involved in this group buy, nor likely to be, but does this help with your understandable concerns ?

I have no affiliation etc but RC engineering have a very good reputation amongst the U.S Lotus crowd, in particular the Esprit owners as they do both injectors and turbo's for the post 89 (pre 89 U.S esprits were bosch mechanically injected) GM MPFI engines. They are by no means a backyard outfit. See: http://www.rceng.com/

Nige, no worries. Hope its repairable and you're roadworthy again soon.

Roland, cheers for the link but to be honest I was hoping to avoid Paypal to save on the astronomical fees. I seem to recall using another method to pay overseas when purchasing the turbo kit from Marie via Ekapol. Can't think what the hell it was now.

Colin, thanks for that. It was another company I had the quote from, who were supplying the injectors. Not RC engineering themselves. However you've prompted me to send an email to RC engineering direct asking for a price.

Watch this space....

Original quote from TREperformance-

Dico wrote:

OK, so you need 16 Bosch style injectors, low impedance, in a 550cc size?

Those would cost $1295 for the 16 injectors, plus a charge of $35 for shipping with USPS Express Mail with tracking, delivery in about 5 business days.

Thank you,
Nick North
TREperformance Inc.

Now you would think RC Engineering could at least match them bearing in mind they make the little blighters, but just had this response...

Hello Paul,

A set of sixteen PL8-550 injectors will list at $1580.00 and we have plenty in stock. Shipping, by UPS, to the UK is about $95.00. If interested, please let us know.

Thank you for your interest in RC Engineering. Please feel free to call or e-mail us with any further questions you may have.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So going off their list price thats approximately zero discount. SUPERB!

I have asked RC Engineering if they can match the quote from TREperformance. If they can the we can get things moving.

Right, had a reply from RC Engineering who are prepared to match the above price-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Paul,

We will match the final price of $1330, that will include shipping.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So- At present we're looking at £204 each (based on four in the group buy) which includes shipping to the UK.
I'll send Ailwyn and Tony a PM with my bank details for this ammount and hopefuly you are both OK with this.

Nige, bit of a tricky one for you I know but I need mine asap as Monty's well on the way with my install. Sorry to push it but if you could let me know as soon as you know pal.

Also please be aware that there could well be import duty and vat at some point in the future. Sometimes this is to be paid prior to customs or the courier company releasing the goods. Sometimes a demand will come weeks or even months down the line. And very rarely, you get away with it altogether!
So please bear this in mind.

Ailwyn/Tony/Nige you have PM

Well nothing goes smoothly, i`ve removed Dico`s stock injectors and went install the RC 550`s and realise that there not the Bosh style top which is required for the clip

Need someone who has done the upgrade to confirm that these are incorrect as they will need to go back to RC in the USA

Compared to the stock Injector

Think there`s some miss comunication with RC, so i`ve cut cropped the injectors side by side to try and explain the difference

The Injector they sent compared to the stock

Right: Bosh style top from there own website

Anyways i`ve managed to fit these injectors but the clip only stops the injector from pulling out of the fuel rail, so in theory the injector could move upwards :? Think once the O rings dry then i can`t see the injectors moving as it was extremely difficult to remove the stock ones. The 3 Map sensor is installed and the Blue beast is up and running with no leaks :-D

I`ll do a little write up with photo`s soon, here`s a couple of pics for now

holy crap! $95 for shipping, i hope that's USD? How gray is that even if it is. How about someone try www.horsepowerfreaks.com or www.frsport.com , i can ship them over in at most TWO first class envelopes like i do the adapters and will cost HALF that in USD. plus, i can try and find a way to save you guys on the customs fees. i doubt i can swing them as a gift, but i can get creative with the prices and a new invoice ;)

if you guys need a US member (site not m100 owner...sorry i'm not that cool :) ) to help you guys out, then by all means ask. no need to pay up the nose for stuff when you can get hooked up. i'm sure you can all attest to my good shipping habits that have upgraded to the GT series.

so, if you want to find the best price, i can take care of the shipping end. i would also check with LGM to see if she has any clout with local speed shops.

I've known of various things mailed internationally to the UK that didn't get hit for customs, usually those labelled with something like "Industrial sample", "Item returned for repair", "Returning faulty/incorrect item", or "Replacement for faulty/incorrect item".

Thought I'd mention it in case anyone has a package that comes under one of these categories, remember to label it as such as I think the customs guys usually ignore them. Wouldn't want anybody to get the wrong injectors/whatever from the states, return them and get hit for duty on the replacements as well...
