Can't believe I never noticed those 2 bolts before.  There are 2 others right by them holding on a black plastic piece which shields the wiring.  They look to be M6 bolts but of course I won't know the length until I remove one.  As I will be packing for vacation tomorrow night that's not likely for a while.  Plus my daughter is coming up for father's day the following week.

Also, the P&P on 1/2 ton off bolts from the US would break the bank and looking at the prices I will get my dremel out and polish them my self. (and the bolts  [smiley=naughty.gif])

Monty, there is a link on this site to all the bolt sixes...http://www.lotuselancentral.com/elanbolts.htm  They are no different in any way than what you'd find in the UK and I have installed all of them on my car, as have some others.

Guys, here's a source of 5mm & 6mm well nuts, the exact 2 sizes found on our Elans.  These are the "rubber-plugs" that have brass-threads on the inside.  The 6mm are used to hold your fender-well liners in (there are 4 in each of the front fenders, not sure in the rear), while the 5mm are used in the bottom of the rear bumper as well as the boost-gauge-transducer.  The rubber on these will certainly be dry & crumble after all this time, if you are lucky enough to simply not have the bolt rusted/fused to it by now.  Get new ones & buy stainless screws too so this won't happen again.  http://www.desmoparts.com/honda/aero/aero.htm<br>Another company very close to me:  http://www.mmsacc-stainless.com/metric/html/metric_assorted_fastener_kits.htm<br>One other nice option is anodized aluminum, but I'll be damned if I can find a complete selection... http://www.yoyodyneti.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=199<br><br>BTW I am doing my front suspension with polished stainless fasteners at this time.  If anyone else wants me to have a duplicate set shipped to your door let me know.  -Matt-<br><br>Monty, the pitch size of all bolts on the list at http://www.lotuselancentral.com/elanbolts.htm is as follows (pitch is simply # of threads per mm):<br>M4-.7<br>M5-.8<br>M6-1.0<br>M8-1.25<br>M10-1.50<br>M12-1.75

Something to think about:  3 bolts of the same size, M6 x 25 (remember, measure from below the bolt head).  First is a polished SS button-head, 2nd a polished SS allen-head, the 3rd an anodized aluminium allen-head (not polished).  Amazing how bright the non-polished bolt is eh?  Imagine how bright a polished aluminium bolt might be!  Also I've had these anodized bolts on my car as long as the stainless ones and they show no signs of corrosion, where the stainless will become water-etched forcing you to break out the metal polish.  All hail anodising!  Too bad it is impossible to find cheap 100 piece anodized aluminium bolt kits like you could just 2 years ago.  Now they cost the same or even more than their polished stainless breathren.<br>Image

Well, a 100-piece kit of anodized aluminum bolts is about $60 delivered to my door.  A kit is an assortment of M4, M5, & M6 fasteners from 8mm to 50mm long.  That would be the starting point for about 2 Elan bolt-kits.  From there it becomes very expensive to round up the M8 bolts as they must be bought individually.  They are about 2-dollars per bolt (http://www.yoyodyneti.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=202).  With all these in hand I can make up Elan specific kits with "put this bolt here" instructions using copies of the parts manual as a pictoral guide.  Another good thing about aluminium is that each kit will weigh only half a pound, resulting in a shipping cost of under $20 to all of Western Europe.  More than one kit shipped together would be cheaper still.  I can also buy coloured anodised bolts but then you lose the Henry Ford efficiency of "any colour you want as long as it's black." - although silver is my bolt colour of choice!<br>Image<br>Image<br>Image<br>Although look at the gold... that bling is gonna cause Gerome some sleepless nights!

Well I worked on the car for 4 1/2 hours tonight removing & sizing more bolts, replacing some (that I had), & cleaning the car as I went.  I have about 20 more bolts "sized".  If you go crazy like me & replace & polish every fastener on the car you can spend over 500 bucks!  As such after I finalise my own order this weekend I will try to rationalize a reasonable bolt kit which offers the most bang for the buck, while still leaving some of your embezzled funds safely in your offshore account.  From looking at prior posts I will put together 4 kits, as I think I will be able to sell those without having all my assets tied up in "bolt futures!"  The kits will come complete with washers, instructions, illustrated highlighted pages from the parts manual cross-referrencing to the same number on your bolts, and a naked dancing girl, schedule permitting.
