Samco Silicone Coolant Hoses-Federal Cars

Postby algirdas » Thu 01.06.2006, 04:09

Dear Matt:

I bet it was shipping. I would be very surprised if it is VAT. Getting my set sent over by JWRacing (a sister company to Amber Performance) cost around 60GBP IIRC.

How's the back? How's the new car?

Sincerely,

Algirdas

Any news on the group fed hose upgrade expansion pack?

Fingers crossed,

Dear Ian:

I posted some pics of the offending hoses. I hope I have the right ones.

I've been a bit busy so I have not sent them off. Plus, I read in another post that James is out of the office on vacation. I'm uneasy about sending my hoses to anyone but him since I doubt anyone else will have a clue as to what I am talking about.

Plus, I want to get my car up in the air and check to make sure the hoses are the right ones.

In short, the delay is on my end-mea culpa.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

No worries mate, I'm off home to England for a two week vacation at the end of the month and wondered if I could save some shipping by picking the hoses up... But no worries, I'll now have more space in my luggage for other spare parts!

Which reminds me, I better PM some people...

Have a great weekend, and thanks for being the point of contact on this.

I know things are in process as far as the US kit for the hoses, but if someone can't wait and wants to use the UK kit (or jumped the gun and has the hoses like me & Matt..  ), I can confirm the UK kit can be made to fit with a little work and some additional bits. See the "Samco silicone coolant hoses, possible group buy" thread here in the Upgrades section - pages 15 & 16. I've updated my pictures and write up info.

Dear Elantastic:

Still time. I'm the delay at present. I still need to get under the car, make sure they are the right ones and blast them off to the UK. And then coordinate the production of the molds etc.

But the weather has been so nice that I just can't bear the thought of taking her out of commission for even a day. Plus, in my defense, I must say that I have been pretty busy at work (Don't you just hate it when work gets in the way of hobbies?).

Add me in too. I had to bit e the bullet and buy a second set of the US hoses after my lower started to leaak a few months back. Samco hoses would be much better.

Algirdas, if you folks need a set of hoses and you don't want to lay up you cars, I can work out something with you. I've swapped mine for the Samco UK set and have most stock hoses laying around as spares. I'd want them back, but you're more than welcome to them. I do think I've given one or two away, so I'll have to compare my inventory with someone first to make sure they are all there.

Dear Dave:

The screw-up here is me. I need to get out there and check the two spare hoses against the ones on the car. If they are the right ones, then I need to take them with me to Stoneleigh and send them off to James at Amber Performance.

The foul up here is entirely with me.

If someone wants to post the pictures of what all the metal coolant hoses look like after sand-blasting & Jet-Hot coating before re-installation with the Amber kit I'll forward the pics to you and you can post 'em up. It sure does make the car look nicer! I did EVERY hose, even the long fat one which goes beneath the exhaust system. Car looks nicer than a jewelry store!

For a pic of my late-fall project which I rushed to get done in a month before the onset of winter you can see an engine picture here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280040136410&indexURL=6&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting

This is a 1994 Ford Aussie Capri convertible running 16PSI of boost (two-times the factory amount!), of which only 366 turbos were made in this, the penultimate year. BTW, this is the only car I have ever previously owned & then re-bought... knowing all the NLA parts that were in it. I could not believe how far the car had deteriorated in those 3-years. It took me 5 non-stop weekends to get it back close to where it was, but that pales in comparison to the 1-year I spent doing the job on the 1st go! :-)

Just reaffirming my interest in the two extra hoses needed for the Feds. My UK red hoses are still awaiting fitting, I really need to start doing some of these jobs!

Cheers,

Samco Silicone Coolant Hoses-Federal Cars

Postby algirdas » Thu 09.11.2006, 15:05

Dear Ian:

As I said previously, I'm the problem here.

I went out into the garage last night and checked my spare hoses against the ones on the car and they are the correct ones. I drafted a letter to my contact at Amber Performance and will print it off at the office this morning. The letter and the spare hoses will then go into my suitcase for the trip over to Stoneleigh where I will post them to the people at Amber Performance and we can get this ball rolling again.

My apologies for inconveniencing you or anyone else interested in these hose sets.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

Dear Algirdas,

Have you included the Throtle Body inlet hose that was missed off the UK list. Amber Performance are waiting for 20 orders so that Samco will start manufacture?

Dear Geoff:

No, I had not. I was unaware that it was an issue. I'll be going to Amber Performance on Monday to meet with Charles there. Do you want me to bring it up? Is it an issue with all Elans or just UK ones? In other words, am I going to be needing one as well?

Algirdas

As far as I am aware it will be the same for the fed cars, so everyone will need one. This hose is between the thermostat housing and the throttle body, it feeds water in to heat the throttle body.

Even Lotus don't supply it any more!!!

See other thread at http://lotuselancentral.com/forum/viewt ... sc&start=0

I will see you at Stoneleigh and show you where it is hiding

Samco Silicone Coolant Hoses-Federal Cars

Postby algirdas » Tue 14.11.2006, 01:20

Dear All:

I extended my trip to England by a day so that I could stop at Amber Performance and drop off the unique Federal top and bottom hoses so that Samco could produce them in silicone. They should be ready right after the first of the year. Perhaps now Ian will get off my back (just kidding).

I am starting a new sign up list because I am just too stinking lazy to plow through this, albeit short, thread figuring out who needs what. I guess I will be coordinating this one with Amber Performance.

Also, with the two unique hoses, Amber will now be offering one kit for Federal Elans and one for the rest of the world. If you need a full set of Samco hoses, please so state below.

Geoff-See the other Samco post about the "additional" hose. It is now a "go" and should be on schedule with the unique Federal hoses.

"Yes", all indications of interest are ENTIRELY conditioned upon acceptable pricing.

Sign up below for a set of unique Federal top and bottom hoses (one top and one bottom):

1. Algirdas, 1 set, black, already have a Samco set of the other hoses.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Ping me if you should have any questions.
