I have 3 of you down for 4-bonnet-stop replacements, Dico, Grahame & Paul (I think, still at work). We'll call it the "S2 and fortunate few" bonnet-stop system.

Actually these are coming from South Coast Stainless in Lake Havasu, Arizona... where all of the polished stainless is being done. The aluminum is from California. It is only the flange nuts which were found while on walkabout in the English countryside! If I was a normal Joe I would have settled for just regular old nuts.

I took advantage of my employer's graces last night after near everyone was gone and made copies of all the relevent pages in the parts manual. Things are moving apace.

Anodized aluminum bolts come unlubricated. The anodising process demands cleanliness, that is why. Also there is no chance of stored bolts rusting, like with other materials. As such, it is especially important to lubricate either the bolt or the receptacle just prior to installation. Regardless of what you might be told (notably by someone pushing their own product, which they happen to have in stock), my experience leads me to highly recommend this lubricant. Before you write this off as overpriced at 15-USD, consider that I am 1/2 way through my 2nd can of this going back 20-years. You will use this for over 95% of your mechanical lubrication needs, because unlike other products you NEVER have to go back & reapply it. Let that thought settle in for a minute. I still have door-hinges gliding silently with the push of a finger that have been that way for 20-years! This damn stuff will not fall off. It also never leaves any sort of dried scaly residue behind as it never breaks down or comes out of suspension, heat or cold or blazing sun.
Image
WURTH HHS 2000
Applications:
Hinges, Suspension bushings, Door lock/window regulator mechanisms, Hood shocks, Throttle cables, Cruise control cables, Mechanical linkages, Marine use. Ideal for use with special screws: 1) The screw-in resistance is greatly reduced, 2) Prevents screws getting stuck inside the thread.

Last night I high-lighted all the bolts on each page of the parts manual which are being provided to you. I think the drawings are fairly clear but I realize that some of the drawings are in smaller scale than others, especially the area at the upper-rear of the engine compartment. I you do have any questions as to the location of a specic bolt just email me the number on the page (46.01A) and the bolt number on the page (63) and I'll snap an actual picture of that location on my car with a web-arrow pointing at it. If you keep in mind that no replaced bolt should be obscured from your direct line of sight it will help eliminate alternate possibilities, as it's likely to be the first bolt you lay eyes on in that area. Cheers, Matt

I will work up the price of the wheels-off kit first. I think you will be quite shocked as these larger M8, M10 & M12 bolts cost a pretty penny. My total order with SCS was for $426, plus $200 for 3 ALU kits and another $40 for flange nuts and you start to see the scope of this thing.

Don't deify me yet. The ALU bolt kits came in today. They are OK but inaccurate in the merchant's description as there are not nearly as many sizes as quoted to me. For the most part this is not a dire problem as I have a vise & will cut the bolts to the proper length. Aluminium is easy to cut and file smoothly. The problem is that there are no bolts in size M4 at all. This affects us in 3 locations: the 6 bolts which hold the metal plates where the bonnet prop-rod rests, the 6 bolts atop the oil-blow-by box, and the 4 bolts which hold on the CAS cover.

I am trying to source the cheapest price of buying these directly by exact size to ensure that is what is actually received. If these bolts are on your wish list let me know. I will wait to hear from all 5 of you B4 proceeding.

Paul, I was waiting to get these B4 ordering yours in gold. It seemed the prudent thing to do. I think at this point it would be best to order all the sizes you need direct to the application, as I currently don't have much faith in ordering a kit.

Sorry about this guys. I have taken the hit on shipping & some other costs to this point, and don't mind doing the work to make the bolts the correct length, but the M4 bolts can only be delivered at what I have to pay for them.

Paul, ran across this in searching http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72205&item=7956189475&rd=1

This is the type of ALU bolt kits I have already purchased, but minus the button-head bolts as they won't let you apply any torque load http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25632&item=7955819502&rd=1 -- now you know what I have on my hands to sort out! Easy enough if they came in all the lengths advertised, but there only seem to be 5 lengths.

http://www.bsr-aerotek.com/alsocket.htm
These are the best prices I have found. They are in the UK so you will be best off ordering directly from them yourselves. Each of you will need:
12 bolts size M4 x 10
4 bolts size M4 x 15
To satisfy the 3 locations previously mentioned.

Paul, you will of course want to order Gold and will need the following quantites & sizes. I will write specific quantities and bolt sizes on the parts-diagram-pages when I ship your washers, nuts, and bonnet-stops. Your price to me will of course be greatly reduced. Do you have a bolt gauge to determine the bolt's sizes & lengths? Here is a picture of one. It can be obtained at most hardware stores or maybe even from this bolt company.
Image
Here is your complete requirement:
12 bolts size M4 x 10
4 bolts size M4 x 15
7 bolts size M5 x 10
4 bolts size M5 x 15
3 bolts size M6 x 10
2 bolts size M6 x 15
4 bolts size M6 x 20
4 bolts size M6 x 30
2 bolts size M6 x 50
4 bolts size M8 x 20
2 bolts size M8 x 25
2 bolts size M8 x 40

I did get a small one-time-use tube of anti-seize with each kit (so I have 2 tubes). Personally I don't like this stuff but if you don't fancy buying a better lube this is the way to go. If you want one of these dropped into your bolt-package IM me or let me know here. Thanks, Matt

Hi gents. To answer questions regarding Aerotek the first column/row under Metric thread has "4 x 0.7 mm". That is M4 with a .7mm thread pitch... the industry standard pitch for an M4 bolt. The 2nd column, first row under Bolts length has "10mm", which is the length of the bolt. Highlight the part number in the column Anodised part no. and click the price list icon button directly overhead. Seach on this number for the price per bolt, ignoring any number which is not an exact match. I think you order by calling them, phone number at the top of the page along with their email address but there might be an online way too.

Best regards, Matt

ps - Sy & Dave, u-ave gotz da lube tubes [smiley=kicking.gif]

That is correct, I will be supplying everything aside from the 16 M4 bolts (except in Paul's case, as I never ordered the gold bolts). Paul, I will look & see if I have kept any of the small tubes of anti-seize you sometimes get when you buy a set of spark plugs.
