Replacing Avon ZZ3 Tyres on standard S2

I currently have Avon ZZ3's all round, which I've been very happy with over the last 7 months of Elan ownership but it's time to replace the 2 front tyres.
I only ride on the road (no track days) but do enjoy driving the car in the manner it was designed for

I've been reading the various comments about tyre choice and wanted to ask if anyone had ran Avon ZZ3's before and:-

a. How do the Avon ZZ3's compare to the other recommended tyres?
b. Should I "upgrade" to the Michelin Pilot Exalto (PE2) or Toyo Proxes T-1R which seem to be recommended on here a lot?

Currently running on Toyo Proxes T1R's on the front and Conti-Sport Contact 2's on the rear. When I bought her she had Conti's allround which I soon swapped for Toyo's on the front

The Conti's are not brilliant and I wouldn't recommend them.
The Toyo's are excellent and give very good "bang for your buck"

Not tried the Exalto's as I just cant warrant the cost increase for tyres which I dont believe can be much be better than the Toyo's.

Cant comment on the Avon's

When I've worn the fronts down probably prior to IoM in July (I cover a lot of mileage with a heavy right foot) I'm going Toyo's allround.

If we manage to have an Anglian meet before you change your tyres Shaun, then you are welcome to take my SE out for a test drive to try them out. It's got Fed alloys too, so they'll be the same 16" tyres you'll be considering for yours.

Thanks for the offer, but I've just booked a place at the Lotus Factory Day and so I'm to get the new boots before then. I have visions of the tyres being too low after the track test and getting pulled on the way home!

I'm going to go with the Toyo Proxes T1R's.
