Spacesaver spare after Hi Spec upgrade

Hi Everyone,
to save me the trouble of jacking cars up to find out, can anyone answer my two questions below? The background is I have a S2 with good wheels and a SE with poor wheels that I wish to have refurbished. I don't want my SE jacked up etc by people unaware of the fragility of our cars, I'd rather deliver the wheels to them. With 2 cars I obviously have 2 spacesaver spares, and I'm cosidering buying 2 more spacesavers. With 4 spacesavers the SE will still be moveable while the wheels are refurbished, important as I have 5 vehicles tightly packed in a single garage.

Q1 - Are the spacesavers on S2 and SE the same?
Q2 - Will the spacesavers fit on the S2 that has a BoB Brown big brake conversion?

Yes.
Don't know (they don't fit over the Wilwoods) but they probably do if you put them on inside out.

I'm pretty sure the space savers do fit over the Hi spec big brake etc
I did take the trouble to try it, and I took pictures (I need to get out more )
I'll post them when I get on my home computer

My spacesaver DIDN'T fit over my Hi-Specs (15" version). After a flat on the front (well a degenerate letting the air out) - cue me swapping good rear to front, spacesaver to rear (on a very wet dark windy evening outside H+C!)

Thanks everyone for the replies. Geoff's idea would I believe be OK for shuffling cars in the garage, Jim's method would work if the S2 gets a front puncture and Steve's would be best if correct.

Not sure on your timescale for doing all this shuffling about, or any travel plans you have, but......


.....should you find yourself passing (or going to) J21 M5, I have a spare set of 17" wheels with tyres that you are welcome to borrow for as long as you want - they were on the red car when I bought it, but I changed back to OE 15" wheels and kept them as spares.

I have never tried fitting them over bigger brakes, but would expect them to fit

Hello Dave,
that's very generous of you and I will be passing on Saturday 13th July, on the way to Salcombe area for a weeks self catering with the family. We will be in 2 cars, both heavily loaded with people, luggage, provisions etc so unfortunately will not have room for a set of big wheels and tyres. I'll probably do the shuffling etc by utilising my 2 spacesavers and getting the wheels refurbed in 2 pairs instead of a set of 4.
