Absolutely right! I’ve had locking nuts on my S2 since the wheels were refurbished in summer 2019. IIRC, they came off a BMW Mini.

Mind you, no one would nick a set of SE wheels. They're ten a penny. Alright, £50 each

So Tony could've saved himself £11.99

No Problem Mark

Yes, it's an S2, just don't want my whhels stolen, not sure the insurance would fork out for a replacement set, even if they could find them. Probably make the car a write-off!

This is something I have been saying for a long time, now. Not just theft, but if someone were to drive over a brick which fell off a lorry in front of them and wrecked a single wheel, without the insurance company being able to find a single wheel for sale, they would have little option but to write a car off.

This is one of the reasons I fully advocate insurance which gives "agreed value" and guaranteed Salvage Retention (obviously, not for a Cat A write-off!).

With FJ, I pay a small premium to 'upgrade' the salvage retention to a no-cost option, as opposed to having to pay out 20% of the write-off value, but even paying £4K to buy back a £10K car will give you £6K in your pocket with which to buy a wheel or two......

..... surely better than losing the car or getting into a protracted 'negotiation', where the only winner will be the company.

The same can be said of other parts, and my own red car was written off (whilst repairable) partially because of unavailability of rear lights....... at the time it suited me to let it go, but if I'd really wanted to keep it, I would have argued that I have a pair of lights, a boot lid and spoiler in the garage - but I don't know how that would have played out.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

go on - click this link - you know you want to!
