Lotus Elan Central

Decided I need to get around to getting my wheel I curbed refurb'ed, as although it's only a little bit of damage it's annoying me seeing it.

-Although I could use the spare wheel on the car for a week or so whilst I get it sorted, these wheels are more for emergency really aren't they?
-Is using the spare for a few days a good idea or would I be better borrowing a wheel/tyre for a short period of time?
-I guess it'd be ok around town wouldn't it? Just for a few days?

I'd say depends on what youre doing with the car for those few days....
if its a mile each way to work and back then shouldnt be a problem but if youre planning on tanking round and up and down motorways at speed then I'd say defiantely not......the rating on the tyre is only about 50mph so I'd keep it to 35-40mph and I'd limit the distance travelled to a few miles tops!!!

Umm, I know what you mean, but I've spoke to a local wheel place that says they'll only need the wheel for a few days, so I won't have to drive too far with the spare on. I could always park it up against a bush so no-one sees it!

I drove home on 4 space saver spares on an Elan once........that was errrr "interesting"...... does look very low with them all fitted!

The day I hated most the spare wheel was when I had a front flat tyre and because of the AP Front brakes the spare whell couldnt fit, so I had to take out the rear wheel, support the rear of the car, take out the front wheel, put the rear wheel in front and then the spare wheel at the back.

I hate that spare wheel!

Will, I don’t think many people other than yourself would have access to 4 spares at one time!

Think it’s fair to say if you can drive with 4 of them, I’ll be ok with 1 for a couple of days.

i have a set of vauvhall cavalier wheels on my s2 at the moment...
its a perfect fit .. however i prefere it without the hubcaps on....
