Toyo Proxes T1-S (205/50R15) - Are no more ?

Just tried to get a full set of above tyres, only to be told that they are no longer available. Ok, they can be sourced from other dealers but not directly from Toyo.

They offered me the T1-R's but after reading some horror stories, I think I'll steer clear of these.

So any suggestions on alternatives, within the same price bracket ? Yokohama A539's ?

This has gutted me also.

I have been meaning to put the T1R's back onto the rear again to see if they still have that nasty instability feeling. I have heard many people say they are good after a few miles wear.

Persoanally I'd also like to find an equally hard wearing all weather tyre for similar price.

T1S' in 205/50/15 are listed in the Toyo catalogue I picked up at Donington.

SW Lotus have a Toyo dealership, suggest you give them a call, you need to speak to James, they are currently offering the best price I can find on R888s in 205/40/17 so if available they should be able to do a deal.

I've just got off the phone to a nice lady at Toyo UK, who confirmed my orginal fears, that Toyo are no longer making T1-S tyres in the 205/50R15 size.

Toyo are still making T1-S tyres but only in 13 sizes, the closest match being the 195/50R15 size.

Further to my reply to your email I can now confirm the following prices
205/50R15 Yokohama A539 @ £53.50 +VAT + Carriage (£7.80 for 2 tyres)
205/50R15 Matador MP41 @ £28.00 +VAT + " " "

205/45R16 Federal ss-595 @ £28.00 +VAT + " " "

I am currently running the Matador on my 530 BMW instead of the Goodyear F1. Whilst they are not as quiet, the ride is acceptable. The grip
on wet or greasy roads is not quite as good, but also very acceptable. The pattern is similar to the Goodyear and at half the price a good economy option.
We currently have 4 or 5 sets of the Federal and Matador but the Yokohama would have to be ordered in. If anyone wants to order any of these, please ring Karen on 01284 768122.

I've got michelin pilot exalto 2 on mine cost me £70 each (205/50ZR15).
I never like'ed the TOYO.
Also have a look on WWW.MSN.CO.UK there's a tyre centre on there.
I was told on the Elan you should have ZR's????
What ever tyre you need Elite will have them

i had toyo t-1s for 5000 miles and 2x track sessions, good in the wet but not the dry. too soft.
a539's have lasted 10,000 and 2x track sessions but not as good in the wet.

just bought yoko parada spec2's will post results soon.

Parada Spec2's look to be a nice tyre but not for us 15" wheelers, as they don't do a 15" rim version .

So it looks like A539's all round ........
