Again, not for me, but I'm the wrong side of 50. Do what you think is right though - you might not get universal support but there should be no malicious comments.

My nuts are scruffy too - its an age thing- too much chewing and spitting out- and was thinking about some new ones for when I have my wheels sorted. Thinking about anthracite to compliment my steel blue.

It's not everybody's taste. I realize that. I've done all the wheels now, and I'm quite pleased with the look. When I was shopping for an Elan, and when I was looking at this one, one of the things I was pretty sure I would do was replace the wheels. I was going to keep the OZ's, but I thought they were one of the few things on the car that looked old school, 70's or 80's. They're a bit of a dated disc design that nobody would put on a new car.

I could have put the rims off my son's now dead Isuzu Impulse ('91). No, they're not the Isuzu rims, they're 16" eight spoke white rims. I decided I didn't like the look of white rims on the red car. I thought I might buy a new set, but when I saw the treatment VW had given theirs, I photoshopped 'em, and I liked it. It allows me to stay with the OEM, and I do prefer keeping things stock, while also allowing me to update the look.

Well, as I said, I've done all four wheels now, and I like it a lot. Here's a picture that shows the effect better.

Now I just need LGM's hoops :wink:

and double bubble cover, and some leather work :shock:

, and I'll be ready to keep fiddling...

If there's one thing I've learned in the short time I've been at LEC, it's that there's no limit to the stuff you can do with this car.

The yellow ones do look very very nice (great minds think alike), but I think they've been chrome-plated in addition to the yellow accents. I don't have that kind of dinero right now.

I just got my standard wheels refinished in a different colour.
It cost about £30 to stip the old paint and do a fairly simple paint and lacquer job. Tyre refitting and balancing was a bit more.

Loads of places do it these days - only problem is having the wheels off your car for a few days - and where they put the axle stands or jacks!

and the wheels do look good, id consider this myself if my elan wasnt steel blue.
