help needed - wheel size ET question

Found a set of mini wheels on Ebay and they are stamped 7"x 17" EH2 IS48 = does this mean they have an ET of 48?

And yes this is the offset...The bolt pattern is the same as an Elan but the centre will need machining to enlarge it by a little...

If you can get me the part number, also stamped on the alloy, I can confirm the size and offset if you wish.

When I worked out that BMW mini wheels would fit the Elan and provided a good option for track day wheels I originally wanted the 'minilite' style but the outer end of the spokes at the rim on the inside of the wheel fouled my Hi Spec Calipers (even with 17" rims). I ended up with the 5 spoke 'bullet' style wheels which have plenty of clearance and yes they are a 48mm offset.

If you are worried by the above info and want to 'try before you buy'...let me know.

If you fancy a trip down my way, I may have some old, knackered MINI alloys in various styles and we can try and fit them and see if the clearance is OK. Let me know and I will have a dig around our waste metal skips. Lots of driving/effort/dirt/mucking about/time, but it might help!

I got some aftermarket wheels off ebay (not BMW mini) 16" x 7 with a 50mm offset, they clear my front Wilwoods no prob`s but they won`t go over my H1-spec rears so Bob has had to redsign my rear brakes

Don`t for get there are alternative tyres for the 16" wheel

Thanks Nige and Monty - and that is a great offer DaveB I need to wait until the car comes out the bodyshop......next week I am promised and then I have to have the brakes fitted so maybe next Friday

Godalming is not far away - is that Coombs? I got my second BMW from there a 323i E30 in 1990 or so

Only used R888's and used to use the same size as Niges on my M3 - hence looking for 17" alloys I was getting them for £103 delivered from Camskill but it looks like the 16's are about £20 dearer in the Kumho range - any experience of these Monty?

The wheels are listed as Team Dynamics motorsport and the seller works for http://www.rimstock.co.uk/rimstockuk/companyprofile.php , i don`t know the model and presume there end off line production as i can`t see the wheels on there website.

In 2007 i fell lucky and picked up 3 of those Kumho tyres off ebay cheap , so i stuck them on the front when i did a bedford day and the grip was awesome which solved my understeer out but i ended up with snap oversteer and spun a couple off times Since i was new to trackdays and was struggling on tyre pressures and someone said to use 30 psi cold to stiffen the side walls which IIRC ended up running at 40 psi hot and that pretty much worn the center of the tyre

Since i got the new wheels i was going to fit another 2 off the Hankook tyres (as i had 2 off them on my S2 wheels) but Camskill are out off stock and won`t get any in for 3/4 months Since i had 1 Kumho tyre left i just bought another to match, (can`t afford a full set ) so i`ve stuck them on the front and the Hankooks will go on the rear once the rear brakes are sorted.

R888 have got a good rep and for £107 thats slightly cheaper than the Kumho but obviously you`ve got the cost of the 17" wheels

bought a set of 16" mini wheels with ET48 and a set of Hankook RS2's track day tyres

I drove a couple of rentals with these on and was very impressed with their grip - they are not as good as R888's but at £75 a corner they are considerably cheaper and I can stick with the 16" wheels

For the 205/45/16 there out off stock and are £65 each, so think you`ve ordered the 215/45/16

I`ve got the wrap round type harness, the shoulder straps got to the Roll Hoops, the right lap strap goes to the seat belt mount on the sill and the left goes to the rear bolt of the seat.
