I'm going back to the stock Federal wheels (well, as soon as I refinish them) and starting to think about tyres.
I'm not going to track this car or probably even push it that much. It rains from time to time here (Northwest corner of Washington State) and my current tyres don't work very well in the wet (17").
I see a lot of posts on Euro wheels, but not much on the Federal ones.
It would be nice if the size kept the speedo resonantly accurate also (or am I dreaming) - it reads a good 5mph slow with the 17".
Open to any thoughts ideas. Sure I'd like it to stick, but since I'm not going to be driving it to the limit a bunch (heck, maybe never?) I'm willing to sacrifice maximum dry grip for a good all around tyre, but still has decent dry grip.
Stock size is 205/45/16 I understand. Not saying I need to stay stock size, but wider may put the speedo way off also?
Thanks for any ideas.

Look
here and
here. I''m headed to Palm Springs from San Diego tomorrow, so by the end of the week I'll be able to give some impressions of the Kumhos. For a sticky performance tire, the price was right. $526 for the set of 4, mounted and balanced.

A while back, after a lot of online research and getting recommendations on here an from friends who big autocrossers, I got a set of BF Goodrich g-force super sport all-seasons. I've been very happy with them. Good performance and treadwear, and not too much road noise.

I see the all season is a fair amount more than the 'regular' Sports.
Any reason for the all season over the others? (better wet eweather perhaps?)
Thanks,
Mark

I got mine from discounttiredirect.com, but I don't see them listed there now. I don't remember specifically, but I also got them at a steal. I think they cost me something like $75 each on sale. I know there's another thread on here somewhere where I talked about them. I spent a lot of time on tirerack.com comparing all their test results for the BFGs and several other options. There were areas where they weren't the best, and others where they were really really good, but overall, for me, they were by far the best bang for the buck. The all-seasons offered better wet performance, and also longer treadwear.

Bearing in mind it doesn't really rain here, let alone freeze, the first 300 miles on the Kumhos have been pretty fabulous. They are quieter than the pirellis they replaced, the ride is better and I haven't even come close to limits of grip even under what I thought was going to be hard braking. As long as you value dry grip above rain performance (let alone cold weather) and don't mind a tire that's going to wear quickly, you won't be unhappy. If you're in San Diego anytime soon, drop me a line and you can see for yourself.

It is just a bit wetter here (90 miles west of Seattle) and much cooler.
If I get to San Diego before buying something I'll certainly get ahold of you.
Thanks!
