Continental Extreme Contact DWS Anyone

Has anyone tried these tires on their elan?? They come in 205/45ZR6, and are rated extremely well for grip, wear, and noise.

I've had Goodrich g-force TA KDW, Dunlop Direzzia DZ101's, and right now I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's in the past. The dunlops were ok, but wore out quickly, the Goodrich's came on the car, and were on 17 inch rims (I now have original rims), and I have the Goodyear's now. The Goodyear is a nice performance tire, but a little noisy. Unfortunately it's no longer available. I drive mostly to work and on scenic drives around town. I don't track the car.

I put almost 15,000 miles a year on my elan, and have 133,000 on it now.

Continental tyres are on a par with Michelin when it comes to wear both very good quiet tyres but not necessarily as good as Yokohama's Bridgestone or Pirelli, which are all better handling tyres but will wear out quicker so the Continental tyres would appear to be a good compromise . My thoughts entirely, some of you chaps on here have probably got totally different opinions on tyres ??

Is a hard-wearing tyre necessarily a better choice?

I have Toyo Proxes T1R's on mine. These are fairly soft for road tyres. They have done 14000 miles & the fronts have got a little tread left. The rears have a load on them.
Here's my point: They have been on there for 3½ years. How long does rubber last before it deteriorates with age? I expect the rears will be well past their best long before they have run out of tread.
