Width, wheel outside to outside?

Postby madbilly » Wed 04.08.2021, 23:07

Hi all,
Please can someone tell me the width of the m100 outside wheel edge to outside wheel edge? I need this to work out if it will fit on a trailer. Car is currently at garage so i can't measure it.
Thanks :)

Billy - it looks like 1485 mm wheel to wheel front and back and overall width of 1735 mm according to the data below.

I can if course go and measure mine but I suspect the official data will be more accurate than my tape measure

1989 Lotus Elan II (M100) 1.6 i 16V Turbo (167 Hp) | Technical specs, data, fuel consumption, Dimensions

Hope this helps ?

Hi HJ2, no it's not in France but just out of reach in the UK! We could tow it but we would have to cross very busy dual carriageway and I don't really like the idea of that.

Hi Rambo,

The track is hub centre to hub centre I think, not outside edge to outside edge. I know the M100 has quite a weird offset and the hubs aren't really near the middle of the wheels otherwise I would just add one tyre width onto the track measurement - this would be 1690mm I think.

Actually this is all a bit mute, I should have just checked the track vs the trailer width to start with - the trailer is only 1450mm between the mudguards so there definitely isn't room for an Elan on there! I should have known, this is a trailer normally used for Austin 7s and Morris Minors...

Cheers all :)

Where is it?

Rent a trailer they're usually flatbed or huge.
