Tyre size alternatives?

Is anyone using 215/45-16 or 215/40-16 as an alternative to the stock 205/45-16? Seems (at least here in the US) there are more choices in this size. Also interested in feedback on the Yoki Paradas in stock size. And no, I don't have an Elan yet. Just planning ahead...

On the topic of wheels the most important thing people discuss around here is the offset and at +60 it is quite a difficult one to find on an aftermarket wheel (rim).
SE's have 205/50 R15, S2's 205/45 R16 and another alternative is 205/40 R17. Haven't tried myself but with 215 tyres you may experience rubbing on full lock. 205 seems to be the best for the Elan.

Thanks for this info! I happen to love the look of the original (US) 16 inch wheels, so the aftermarket is not as important to me. I'm interested in feedback from those who may have tried the 215 width.

I'm aware the associated larger diameter may cause the speedo to read slow but based on comments here lotuselancentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6164&highlight=gauges
it may actually bring greater accuracy.

So 215 experience, anyone?

They're like the orange "Starfleet regulation" typeface on the dashboard - period styling elements currently out of vogue but which, like any classic design bits, will eventually be recognized for their place in time and contribution to the whole early '90s aesthetic.

Or maybe they do suck and I'm just weird...
