scrapyard = CTS, ate's, door pop ups, N/A coil

managed to aquire 2 cts(collant temperature sensors) today of a daewoo essparro from the scrapyard . this to has the ATE brakes that fit on ours ..<br>also it has the single point coil for the N/A and other lotus looms and plugs ..<br>on the carlton cdi i got the electric window up and down switches these are in the back doors of the estate (and probably others) <br><br>i also got the door lock knob , you know the up and down knob with the surrounds that are on ours complete with the red line through it .mine has been had a go at with a srewdriver (as most have if you have had to get inside the doors!!)<br>rather pleased with them..<br><br>the door handles are the same as well but not the esscuttion ..<br><br>the dash switches are the same but not with the red logos on.<br><br>also got a boot lock release mechanism that i will hopefully be able to turn into an auto boot release  , attached to the swithches i nicked..<br><br>ah the fun of the scrapyard...<br>clem of the dump ...

Don't let's start another ATE epic thread!!!   <br><br>Clemo, did the "door lock knob" come off the Carlton too?  I could do with a drivers side one!!

Any ideas on whether the vaux carlton metal push rod running from the button to the locking mechanism fits the lotus and maybe the button surround in the door.   I seem to be missing the whole setup and want to have a go at tidying up my doors and finishing some bits of the car off this summer.<br><br>Cheers,<br><br>Jason

Button surround is the same .. not sure on metal linkage..<br>may well be as the handle mech is the same ...

Good point, I guess they would be fairly similar then unless longer/shorter.  Shall attempt to pay a visit to a scrapyard this week/weekend to confirm, assuming I can find a carlton as the trouble with these is there is no real value in these and they get scrapped too quickly!<br><br>Will try to let you know if I find anything.<br><br>Thanx - Jason

Just been on the phone to my local Daewoo dealer.

The coolant temperature sensor that fits all Esperos is part number 12146312, and it costs £25.62 + VAT (or a bit less if you can sweet-talk them into letting you have it at the trade price).

A bit better that Lotus's £45 + VAT, but not quite as good as the Clemo scrapyard option. Still, if you can't find one at the dump, now you know how to get hold of a brand new part for nearly half price.

The 12146312 is a GM part number and I'm afraid that, while its physically similar to the Elan CTS, the thermistor calibration data I've come across indicates it isn't the same, very close but not the same.
