Just been chatting to Chris at the parts dept at Bell and Colvil. He was up at Hethal yesterday and understands that Lotus is intending to launch a new parts programme on similar lines to Jaguar and Porsche classic schemes. The M100 Elan will definately be included in this. There should be progress on this in next few months. He also sayes he can source wishbones from the original maker. Apparently the guy is not computer literate but Chris is happy to field any enquiries in this regard.

Quick! Buy up all the "sale list" parts before the price goes up again!

It'd be great if they did this, but I'm not sure what's in it for them - it's not like it's a huge market, for the effort it'll take to get things manufactured again.
What they should really do is recover the tooling and go back into production!

I asked the same question. The thinking is in most cases its just finding a supplier for example Head Gaskets for all models new and old from one source. Lotus are confident they can make money from it as well improving the all important brand perception. Apparently other maunfactuers make a profit out of doing the same thing.

This is indeed good news.
Maybe in a few years time our Elans will have the same cachet (and value!) as the early baby Elans have now
