New Clutch Install Questions

Postby White91elan » Thu 14.02.2008, 07:45

Hi, I am taking my 91 Elan in to have the clutch replaced, and I was wondering what the best way for the shop to go about removing it? My other question is does the motor need to be removed to change out the clutch? And last but not least what are the general costs in labor as I have already bought a stage two clutch kit?

Any advise and or help would be great yall.

The procedure is well outlined in the manuals.
Bottom line is, no, there's no need for engine removal.
Tell us more about the clutch kit as I used to have a six puck clutch with high-rated pressure plate fitted, but I reverted to OEM as I couldn't get on with the lack of feel...

Sy, the clutch that I bought is a stage two SPEC clutch. It has a High clamp pressure plate and a segmented chatter-free Kevlar disc. I am not sure about the amount of pucks. Any Ideas on shop costs Sy?

I'm not 100% sure, but thought a clutch change was 8hrs labour ?

Cost?

Oh wow. Mine came from your side of the pond quite a few years ago.
It's a Fidanza unit IIRC... or was that the flywheel.

Jeez, my memory's crap!
