What's the current adviced outer CV Boot?

Postby HJ2 » Wed 17.07.2013, 09:09

Hello all,

I found a hole in one of my outer CV boots which needs to be replaced.
I read the Wiki (duh) But i was wondering if this info is still correct.
I need to order the correct part soon (or will a universal boot work as well?)

all insight welcome :-)

had to replace mine when the wheel bearing was changed, my mechanic just replaced it with one he had in his workshop , that was roughly the same dimensions, has been on a year and no problems 8)

I believe the inner boots are from the US 1990 subaru wagon. The outer boots are from a US 1989 Ford Escort. You will have to translate the models to whatever Ford called them in the UK or Europe.

There is a decent rebuilder in Charlotte, NC that offers the boots separate but I think they are like $25.00 each. They also offer full rebuilds and uprated joints for rally and race. I had them rebuild one of my extra shafts and their work looks to be very good. I know Steve M. had his done to race spec and liked them too.

I got Renault ones I think. Everything is in a mess as I am moving offices, but I can look it out next week for you. They were approx £5.
